Turban Ban in France

Introduction

Medical doctors will verify that bringing up a child in a sterilized space, away from the realities of environment, that contains allergens, viruses, bacteria, etc., and introducing him to nature only when an adult, will have drastic consequences.  The child may not even survive.

Raising children in a religion-free space, away from the realities of the social environment, can only distort/confuse the young minds and render the children incapable of adjusting/accepting the newfound facts of life later in life.  The French Government must consult some Doctors of Psychology before deciding the nature of social environment in their schools.

All the vaccination that we give our children, rather infants, against the deadly diseases are, in fact, the ‘germs’ of those diseases, so as to enable the children to form antibodies in their bodies to fight those diseases and overcome their fatal consequences later in life.

As such, we rather need to teach/introduce the realities/facts of life, even if we assumedly consider these to be detrimental, as early as possible so that these realities, say, variety of religions and/or races of the world, may integrate into the very being of the children, so that accepting the varieties of people comes naturally to them.

Let us bring up our children as belonging to the Human Race, and not as Indians/Americans/French, if our planet Earth and we, the Earthians, are to survive.

A Line of Thought

Many leading Sikh Organisations are engaged in specialized services to the Panth.  For example, the United Sikhs are taking up the issue of Turban Ban in France very efficiently at the international level.  Dr M S Rahi addresses distortion of Sikh History in textbooks of School Education Boards in India, almost single-handedly.  Chief Khalsa Diwan, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Institute of Sikh Studies, are some other examples, to name a few.  Let us extend whole-hearted support to such organizations in their endeavors.  Rather, every Panthic issue must be handled by an organization, which is in a position to do so, so that there is no duplicity of effort, which would anyways be a waste of time and energy.  And that Organization must enjoy the support of all other Panthic Organizations, so as to project to the world that we are a united lot.  For giving such a model a practical shape, we could follow the pattern of the United nations.  The various organizations of the United Nations function and project themselves as FAO of the United Nations, UNICEF, United Nations, and so on.  We could adopt a similar style to ‘Be,’  ‘Appear’ and ‘Act’ united.  Say, for example:

  • Dr Kharak Singh Trust of the International Sikh Confederation, is committed to work for …;
  • Baba Budha ji Mission, International Sikh Confederation, is dedicated to … ;
  • Trust for Welfare of Vanjaras & Weaker Sections of Society, ISC, is devoted to …;
  • Institute of Sikh Studies, ISC, is engaged in … ; and so on.

Two world-level Sikh Organizations were formed, but unfortunately, these could not take off, as these should have, courtesy, our lack of will/concern to exist as a respectable quom (Nation).  Do we expect that some outsiders shall do this job for us?

The intelligentsia of the Panth, have, once again, a third time, ventured to bring all Panthic Organizations together at the global level.  But the ‘brain’ can give us a vision, which has to be enacted on the ground by us all.

Guru Gobind Singh equated his collective followers to himself in his lifetime.  He gifted us the doctrine of Guru Granth – Guru Panth, as he considered us mature enough to handle our own affairs in future, as per Gurmat.  Let us live up to the Guru’s expectations, and enjoy the status of Guru Panth through belonging to one saanjhi sanstha.  Such a concept is indispensable for our respectable status among the world communities.  And, we are to reflect the greatness of our Faith and its Founders to the world.
